The switch control butterfly valve means that the closing part (disc or disc) is the disc, and the valve is opened and closed around the valve shaft. The "butterfly" is a metal disc mounted on a rod. When the valve is closed, the disc rotates, thereby completely blocking the passage. When the valve is fully open, the disc rotates a quarter of a turn, allowing virtually unrestricted passage of fluid. The valve can also be opened gradually to regulate flow.
Wafer butterfly valves are designed to maintain a seal against two-way pressure differentials to prevent backflow in any system intended for one-way flow.
It does this through tight-fitting seals; namely, gaskets, O-rings, precision machining, and flat faces on both the upstream and downstream sides of the valve.
Butterfly valves often replace ball valves in many industries, especially the oil industry, due to their lower cost and ease of operation
installed, but the pipeline containing the butterfly valve cannot be "pigged" for cleaning.
